BCLSC Open Meet - November 2011



The annual BCLSC open meet which is a collaboration between Brockworth, Cinderford and Lydney Swimming Clubs took place at GL1. This eagerly awaited 50m sprint event was again a showcase of talent from the many Cinderford swimmers who took part collecting many medals and personal best times between them.
Leading the way on the medal table was Nia Westlake collecting 4 gold’s in freestyle (in a time of 28.99 sec), backstroke, butterfly and 100m IM and a bronze in the breaststroke. Lauren Mitchell won silver in the backstroke and 100 IM and a bronze in the butterfly; she also achieved PB’s in 4 events. Dean Embling won gold in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 31.48 sec and silver in the butterfly and 100 IM with PBs in both IM and backstroke. Billy Harris took silver in the backstroke with a new time of 29.84 sec and bronze in the freestyle.
6 of Cinderford’s fearless 9 year old swimmers took to the water: Hannah Desmond winning silver and a PB in both the backstroke and 100 IM and bronze in the butterfly, Megan Hale won a bronze medal in both the breaststroke (with a PB) and 100 IM, Josh Gawin-Brian achieved silver medals in freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and 100 IM the last 2 with PBs, Alex Cleal took home the bronze in the backstroke, and Iris Creed and Marcus Hopkins both won medals in breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke.
Todd Montague and Josh Peck fought it out for the 14 year olds medals with Todd winning the backstroke and 100 IM (with a PB), achieving silver in the freestyle and breaststroke and bronze in the butterfly. Josh won the freestyle in a new time of 28.70 sec, silver in the backstroke and bronze and PBs in the breaststroke and 100 IM. 11 year old Luke Mills won the bronze medal in the backstroke and Morgan Peck (12) swam into the silver medal position in the backstroke and butterfly and bronze in the freestyle all with PBs.
Other medals winners were Sam Jenkins (freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and 100 IM); Ashleigh Embling (breaststroke, 100 IM and backstroke); Evan Jones (freestyle, breaststroke; butterfly); Dean Embling (backstroke and freestyle); Lauren Mitchell, Maddie Worgan and Alex Cleal (freestyle and breaststroke); Billy Harris and Andrew Cole (butterfly and 100 IM); Frazer Montague, Luke Mills and Morgan Peck (breaststroke and 100 IM); Hannah Desmond (breaststroke); Megan Hale, Zelig Ho and Roderick Ho (butterfly); Jake Parker, Chris Owston and Nya Levy (backstroke).
Personal best times were also achieved by Kimberley Smith; George Fear; James Owston; Lauren Garner; Emily Wilson; Chloe Kibble; Morgan Jones; Jess Bayliss; Chloe Phillips; Rebecca Howard; Jay Scrivens; Nathaniel Ingledow; Isabel Selwyn; Chloe Howard; Renee Pritchard.
