County Blocks March 2010
Sessions 5 - 8
Cinderford swimmers put on another sterling performance at the County Blocks on the weekend. Nia Westlake, Rebecca Toomer and Dean Embling achieved podium places in the 15 and 16 year category with Ashleigh Embling, Morgan Peck and Sam Jenkins collecting medals for the younger swimmers. Nia and Dean also were awarded first place in the 2010 stroke awards for the IM and breaststroke respectively.
Nia improved on her 200m backstroke time by over 3 seconds to take the gold medal and a place in the Championship final; she also won silver in the 200m IM and 400m freestyle with a personal best, and bronze in the 50m butterfly and 100 freestyle with a new time. Rebecca improved on her 50m butterfly time before securing the bronze in the 200m backstroke and Dean gained personal best times in his 50m butterfly, 200m IM and 100m freestyle before taking the bronze medal with 3 seconds off his 200m breaststroke time and achieving 6th place in the Championship final.
Ashleigh achieved a personal best and an 8th place medal in her 200m breaststroke and improved her time in her 200m IM and 100m freestyle races; Morgan Peck received an 8th place medal and a PB in his 50m backstroke and 10 year old Sam Jenkins in his first big competition achieved a 7th place medal in his 50m backstroke with an excellent 6 second PB.
Other great swims came in the 50m butterfly with an 8th place for Jake Parker butterfly and a personal best from Nathan Peck; Josh Peck improved on his times in the 50m and 100m backstroke and had a staggering 20 second PB in his 400m freestyle. Personal best times also came from Casey Davis (100m IM), Paige Bowles (200m backstroke), Todd Montague and Kurtis Nash (100m freestyle) and Mitch Savage (50m backstroke).
