County Blocks 2010 Team Events
The final day of relays in the Gloucestershire County Blocks saw Cinderford fielding 8 teams with the 9/10 year old boys consisting of a very young squad: Andrew Cole, Luke Mills and Tyler Adams (all aged 9) and 10 year old Sam Jenkins put in an excellent performance to achieve 7th place in the freestyle relay. The girls’ team also had two 9 year olds in Nya Levy and Jess Tingle, together with 10 year olds Renee Pritchard and Chloe Kibble they swam very well although finishing outside the medals.
The 13/14 year old girls team of Ashleigh Embling, Paige Bowles, Tasha Bayliss and Cassie Smith put in a valiant effort but finished 11th in both relays. The 11/12 year old boys consisted of Luke Nash, Josh Peck, Mitch Savage and Morgan Peck; they put in a strong swim but finished in 9th place in the medley relay, being disappointed to not make the final. 15/16 year olds Abby Marshall, Rebecca Toomer, Nia Westlake and Lauren Mitchell showed outstanding effort to finish in 5th place in the freestyle relay and 7th in the medley.
The 15/16 year old boys put in superb individual legs with Joe Tinge, Dean Embling, Jake Parker and Billy Harris collecting 4th place for the freestyle relay and bronze medals for the medley. 15 year olds Billy and Dean were joined by Nathan Peck and Jason Games in the Open 4 x 100m relays with terrific swims they achieved 7th in both the freestyle and medley races. The Open girls’ team of Rebecca Toomer, Nia Westlake, Kim Briscoe and Rebecca Dubberley put in fantastic swims to come 7th and 6th in the medley and freestyle relays.
