4 Seasons Gala at GL1 on December 2011
The latest 4 seasons gala between novice swimmers from Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Hereford and Cinderford took place just before Christmas. Excited swimmers and parents descended on GL1 for this much anticipated event. Taking part in their first competition were Tamzin Latham and Iris Creed who swam to new times in the 25m breaststroke and freestyle events. Marcus Hopkins and Finlay Gawin-Brian (also new to competition) together with Alex Rawlings and Josh Gawin-Brian took the first honours for Cinderford with a win in the medley relay. Josh also won the 25m butterfly race with a new PB and his brother Finlay improved his backstroke time.
Sam Jenkins had a great evening winning both his individual races: the 50m butterfly in a new time and the 50m backstroke before joining Luke Nash, Jamie Leighton and Andrew Cole to win the freestyle relay. In their individual races Andrew improved his fly time, Jamie his freestyle time and Luke Nash his breaststroke time. Matthew Fleming won the 50m breaststroke in a new PB, 11 year olds Luke Mills won the 50m backstroke and Maddie Worgan won the 50m freestyle.
8 year old Hannah Kibble swam to a new time in the 25m butterfly, Jay Scrivens improved his freestyle times and Chloe Kibble improved her 50m breaststroke time. Rebecca Howard improved her freestyle time, sister Chloe improved her 50m backstroke time and Roderick Ho improved his 50m butterfly time.
10 year olds Emma Clarke and Evan Jones both gained new PBs in 50m backstroke with Sarah Boundy improving her 50m butterfly time; Bethany Whittard-Swift improved her freestyle time; and Lauren Garner and Alex Cleal improved their backstroke on the first leg of the relays. Also swimming were Hannah Desmond, Morgan Jones, Nya Levy, Renee Pritchard and Jess Bayliss.
In a very exciting finale, the 2nd 4th place deciders came down to the last race in which 2nd placed Cinderford were beaten by both Hereford and Gloucester and the scores finished with Tewkesbury outright winners with 130 points, Hereford and Gloucester taking joint 2nd with 117 points and Cinderford 4th with 116 points.
