Heads of the Valley Swimmers

A truly exceptional weekend for Cinderford at Newport resulted in 14 District times (South West region) for 2010.  Dean Embling was on lightning form achieving a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke and silver in the 100m and 200m breaststroke as well as impressive district times at all 3 distances, Dean also had personal bests in his 50m and 100m freestyle races.  Accomplished swimmer Nia Westlake achieved an outstanding 5 district times at this meet (the most ever in a single meet by a CDSC swimmer) in 200 and 400m IM, 200 and 400m freestyle and 200m backstroke.  She also achieved fabulous silver medals for 400m IM, 200m breaststroke and freestyle and bronze medals for her 400m freestyle and 200m butterfly.

Rebecca Toomer achieved a fantastic 3 district times and bronze medals in 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, she also received excellent bronze medals for her 50m and 100m breaststroke.  Taking on a new distance Lauren Mitchell achieved a marvellous new time in the 400m freestyle, before more terrific performances to gain a district time in 200m backstroke, a silver medal in 100m breaststroke and bronze in 200m breaststroke.

Ashleigh Embling swam with great determination to a personal best time in the 100m breaststroke achieving an excellent district time.  Billy Harris achieved an incredible 4 personal best times in 50m backstroke and butterfly and 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke in which he also achieved an marvellous district time – this being his first with great potential for more.

Well controlled races by Paige Bowles had her sprinting to personal best times in the 200m freestyle, 50m and 200m breaststroke.  Jake Parker and George Fear swam to well deserved  PBs in the 50m backstroke.  Against very strong opposition Casey Davis swam in the 50m freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly and Mitch Savage and Frazer Montague swam in the 50m backstroke and 200m freestyle respectively.
