National Swimming League – 14 Nov 09
Cinderford travelled to Bromsgrove for the second round in the Arena national swimming league securing a win against teams from Wyre Forest, Solihull, Oldbury and Camphill Edwardians. Great team swims for the 13 years and under relay team of Danny Collins, Kurtis Nash, Todd Montague and Josh Peck led to first places in the freestyle and medley with very close finishes. Winning both their relays convincingly were the 15 years and under teams of Cassie Smith, Ashleigh Embling, Tasha Bayliss and Rebecca Toomer for the girls and Joe Tingle, Dean Embling, Alex Collins and Billy Harris for the boys.
The swimmers had many individual races, the 200m IM saw Nia Westlake and Dean Embling improve their PBs and Nia won her race by a fantastic 15 sec margin. There were strong swims by Dean who won the breaststroke by 8 sec and the 100m freestyle and Nia who won a tightly contested breaststroke by a finger touch. Rebecca Toomer surged ahead to win her butterfly race by 10 sec and her 100m backstroke by 5 sec. Other great wins in the backstroke came from Mitch Savage in the 50m whilst Lauren Mitchell, Joe Tingle and Todd Montague all sprinted to the honours in the 100m backstroke. Paige Bowles powered into first place in the 100m breaststroke; Casey Davis made the 50m butterfly her own, Billy Harris excelled in the 100m butterfly and Nathan Peck snatched the 100m freestyle race in a very tight finish.
Personal best times on the day were achieved by Joe Tingle (28.95 sec in FC); Jack Hinchey and Alex Collins (BK); Jake Parker and Todd Montague (Fly) and Jason Games (BR).
