South West Region Championship 2011 (Districts)

7 of Cinderford’s swimmers journeyed to Millfield to compete in the South West region ‘District’ championships over the May Bank holiday.

Dean Embling (17) swam very well competing in 4 events, excelling in his preferred stroke, breaststroke.  His biggest success came in the 50 breaststroke where he sprinted into the silver medal position in the 17 and over age group in a new PB time.  He also made the final in the 100 and 200 breaststroke finishing in 4th and 5th respectively, both in new PB’s.  Dean also competed in the 200 IM finishing with another PB.  His sister Ashleigh (15) swam just outside her PB in the 100 breaststroke.

Nia Westlake (17) undertook 8 races ranging from sprints to long distance events.  Her best performances came as she finished in 5th position in the tough 800 freestyle and 10th in the 400 IM.  She also tackled two challenging events, the 100 and 200 butterfly gaining PBs in both and also competed in the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle and the 200IM.  

Billy Harris (16) competed well in the backstroke events gaining a new PB in the 100 and finishing 9th in the 50 backstroke.  Lauren Mitchell and Rebecca Toomer, both 17, swam just outside their PBs in the 100 backstroke with Lauren also competing in the 200 backstroke.  Nathan Peck (19) sprinted to a new PB in the 50 freestyle.
