Welsh Capital Meet 25 – 27th November 2011

6 of Cinderford & District Swimmers Club’s top athletes travelled at Cardiff for the Welsh Capital Long Course Open Meet, with entrants including David Davies and other Olympic hopefuls and swimmers coming from as far afield as Edinburgh and Malta, the competition was of a very high standard.

The weekend produced mixed results for the Cinderford team with Dean Embling achieving PB’s in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke in times of 31.11 sec and 1min 07.36; he also took the bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke.

Nia Westlake travelled to Cardiff on the Friday to compete in the 800m freestyle, before she competed over the Saturday and Sunday in more 6 events, her best results being 4th in the 200m butterfly and 400m IM.  Lauren Mitchell completing over 2 days, entered 6 events achieving 11th place overall in the 100m breaststroke.

15 year old Ashleigh Embling only came on Sunday and took 19th place in the 200m breaststroke.  Billy Harris achieved 17th place in 50m freestyle, he was disqualified in the 200m backstroke for a small glide into a turn.  He had to leave early on the Saturday and never swam on the Sunday.

Todd swam to a new PB in his 50m freestyle and also competed in the 200m backstroke, where he aggravated an injury picked up earlier in the week and could not swim in his final race.
