Friendly Gala at Heywood against Newent

Cinderford hosted a 50m sprint gala against Newent at Heywood on Saturday giving some of the less experienced swimmers a chance to compete in a friendly environment in which they shone achieving an abundance of personal best times.  Newent brought some of Gloucester City swimmers with them to make up their team and to give them the chance to swim in a local derby.  With just the 2 teams competing, Cinderford were able to give many of their swimmers the opportunity to swim and make it an exciting gala with some very close finishes.

The older swimmers put on a great display of speed, technical ability and experience and encouraged all the swimmers to achieve.   The younger swimmers had a great competition; notably Ben Main who had PB’s in all his races with 12, 9 and 5 seconds off his backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle times and Evan Jones who took 9 and 4 seconds off his backstroke and freestyle and had a new time in his butterfly.  His teammate Tyler Adam made an improvement of a fantastic 13 seconds off his breaststroke and came away with a new time in his butterfly.
