Arena League Division 3 Final 10 Dec 2011 at Hutton Moor

The joint team of Lydney and Cinderford swimming Clubs were in the A final of Division 3 of the Arena League at Hutton Moor, Weston.  With 8 teams competing the evening opened with Nia Westlake winning the 100m IM, Jacob Salisbury achieved a new PB just being touched into 2nd place.  Read more.......

Forest Pulse Swimathon – Dec 2011

Congratulations to swimmers Anne Seager, Jules Barrell, Kirsty and Jamie Morris, and Jamie and Claire Leighton who took part in the Forest Pulse Swimathon at Whitecross Leisure Centre in December.  Forest Pulse supports families living in the Forest of Dean who have a child with disabilities; it is based within the Heart of the Forest Special School. County Blocks 2012 Distance Races

Getting the 2012 County blocks off to a great start for Cinderford was Nia Westlake competing in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle races.  Nia’s ability for pacing is legendary and she did not disappoint.  With a sprint start for the first 200m, she settled into a comfortable pace before picking the speed up again in the closing part of both races earning her a very well deserved gold medal for the 1500m and silver medal for the 800m freestyle.   Read more........

4 Seasons Gala at GL1 on December 2011

Welsh Capital Meet 25 – 27th November 2011

6 of Cinderford & District Swimmers Club’s top athletes travelled at Cardiff for the Welsh Capital Long Course Open Meet, with entrants including David Davies and other Olympic hopefuls and swimmers coming from as far afield as Edinburgh and Malta, the competition was of a very high standard. Arena League 12 November 2011

The second round of the Arena League saw the Lydney/Cinderford team swimming at Horfield in Bristol where they pulled off an impressive win with 270 points: 2nd place was Cirencester with 233 points; 3rd was Bristol Penguins 217points; 4th Bishopsworth 204; 5th Backwell 189; 6th Wareham 140; 6th Merthyr Tydfil 132 points.  Read more........

BCLSC Open Meet - November 2011

The annual BCLSC open meet which is a collaboration between Brockworth, Cinderford and Lydney Swimming Clubs took place at GL1.  This eagerly awaited 50m sprint event was again a showcase of talent from the many Cinderford swimmers who took part collecting many medals and personal best times between them. Cinderford & District Swimming Club Championships 2011

77 swimmers took part in Cinderford & District Swimming Clubs annual Championship followed by a presentation evening and buffet.  This event is looked forward to with great anticipation by the swimmers and their families and always proves to be exciting. Read more........

Glos City Open Meet July 2011 (12 and under)

The younger swimmers from Cinderford converged on GL1 in a weekend of competition in the Gloucester City Open Meet; the swimmers showed no nerves and an on-form team enjoyed fantastic results and an abundance of personal bests. Read more........

4 Season gala at Tewkesbury June 2011

The final round of the 4 Seasons galas saw Cinderford swimmers travelling to Tewkesbury.  With a number of inexperienced competitors the swimmers all gave their best and came away in 3rd position overall. Read more........

Cotswold League B final  May 2011 at Keynsham

Cinderford hosted the final of the Cotswold League B gala at Keynsham at only a few days notice due to discrepancies in the final round with other teams’ points.  Frantic last minute searches for a referee before the final were all smoothed out by the Saturday evening and even the late arrival of one of the teams didn’t detract from the well run competition.  The final results were Bristol Penguins 242 points; Cinderford 208 points; Minehead 179 points; Brockworth 170 points; Bristol Henleaze 147 points and Cwmbran 142 points. Gloucester City Level 2 Open Meet - May 2011

6 Cinderford swimmers took part in the Gloucester Level 2 Open Meet with Nia Westlake the only girl for the Club competing and bringing home 3 gold medals for the 200m freestyle, 200 butterfly and 400m IM – all with personal best times.  She also achieved 5 silver medals for the 100m butterfly, 100m and 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 200m IM.  Read more........

An excited team of swimmers from Cinderford Swimming Club converged on GL1 in Gloucester for the latest 4 Seasons gala, putting in a spirited performance they finished in 3rd place - only 12 points behind eventual winners Hereford. Read more........

Cotswold League Gala on 30 April 2011

Gloucester Masters Open Meet - 10 April 2011

Proudly showing that age doesn’t matter when it comes to competing, Cinderford Masters swimmers made a big splash in the pool on the weekend at Gloucester in the Open Meet.  6 swimmers forgo the chance of topping up their tans in the sun for a day spent beside the pool with regular dips to keep the body cool; unfortunately 2 others were unable to swim due to health reasons. County Blocks 26 March 2011

On the final day of the individual swims Cinderford swimmers carried on the medal collection with Nia Westlake taking the 3rd place trophies in the 17 year age group awards for both the butterfly and freestyle, this followed the days racing in which she achieved silver in the 100m backstroke and bronze in the 200m freestyle. Read more..........

Cinderford swimmers swam well in the latest round of the Cotswold League finishing in 3rd place.  There were notable performances from the 13 years & under boys’ team of Frazer Montague, Morgan Peck, Mitch Savage and Nick Watkins, winning both the freestyle and medley relays.  Read more..........
