Cardiff Bay 50m Sprint Meet - July 2010 Long Course

District Sprints GL1 July 2010

Congratulations to the Cinderford swimmers who took part in the "District" Sprints at GL1 on Sunday, overall positions were Nathan Peck 2nd, Nia Westlake 3rd, Dean Embling 5th and Lauren Mitchell 6th - an excellent result

 

  Four Sessions Gala Tewkesbury July 2010

Well done to everyone who competed in the Four Seasons Gala at Tewkesbury on Saturday, you all swam brilliantly. Cinderford were joint winners with Hereford on 127 points, Gloucester 126 points and Tewkesbury 105 points.


Gloucester City Level 3 Open Meet June 2010

Cinderford swimmers always enjoy the competitions at GL1, and the Gloucester City open meet was no exception.  With many swimmers having their first try at the longer distances in competition and some amazing personal best times, the rattle of medals on the way home confirmed the event an outstanding success. SW region Champs

South West Region Championships 2010

A record 8 swimmers journeyed to Millfield to represent Cinderford swimming club in the South West Region Championships.  The Club is very proud of the achievements of all the swimmers who have worked hard throughout the year to achieve this honour. Read more........

 

Welsh Capital Masters Open Meet 8th May 2010

4 of the younger element of “Master” swimmers from Cinderford travelled to the International 50m Pool in Cardiff Bay for the Welsh Capital Masters Long Course Open Meet. The day ran smoothly and there was a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere between all the competitors. Read more........

 

Four Seasons Gala 24th April 2010

Cinderford hosted the latest Four Seasons Gala at home, a very appreciative audience cheered on the teams in a very tight contest with the gala outcome decided on the last relay.  The final results were Cinderford winning by 1 point to Gloucester with Hereford finishing just behind in 3rd place. Taunton Deane Level 1 Open Meet

Only four swimmers from Cinderford travelled to Millfield to compete in the Taunton Deane level 1 open meet, collecting four medals in total. Read more.......

 

Tiger Bay Open Meet 2010

With several teams from Germany and Ireland amongst the 46 clubs taking part the Tiger Bay Open Meet had a truly international atmosphere. The 11 Cinderford swimmers swam tremendously well against stiff competition to secure 11 medals (inc. 5 championship records) and 16 pb’s over the weekend. Read more........

 

Friendly Gala at Heywood against Newent

Cinderford hosted a 50m sprint gala against Newent at Heywood on Saturday giving some of the less experienced swimmers a chance to compete in a friendly environment in which they shone achieving an abundance of personal best times.  Newent brought some of Gloucester City swimmers with them to make up their team and to give them the chance to swim in a local derby.  With just the 2 teams competing, Cinderford were able to give many of their swimmers the opportunity to swim and make it an exciting gala with some very close finishes.  Read more........

Sports Relief

Sports Relief “Swim a Mile”

Cinderford swimmers took part in fundraising for Sports Relief on Sunday and certainly went the “extra mile. 46 swimmers from the Masters, District, County and Development groups swam 64 lengths of the pool each to complete the mile challenge.  In addition the teaching group swam distances between 16 and 32 lengths each.  The money raised is being sent to Sports Relief, so a big thank you for everyone who entered and/or donated. County Blocks 2010 Team Events

The final day of relays in the Gloucestershire County Blocks saw Cinderford fielding 8 teams with the 9/10 year old boys consisting of a very young squad: Andrew Cole, Luke Mills and Tyler Adams (all aged 9) and 10 year old Sam Jenkins put in an excellent performance to achieve 7th place in the freestyle relay.  The girls’ team also had two 9 year olds in Nya Levy and Jess Tingle, together with 10 year olds Renee Pritchard and Chloe Kibble they swam very well although finishing outside the medals. County Blocks March 2010 Sessions 5 - 8

Cinderford swimmers put on another sterling performance at the County Blocks on the weekend.  Nia Westlake, Rebecca Toomer and Dean Embling achieved podium places in the 15 and 16 year category with Ashleigh Embling, Morgan Peck and Sam Jenkins collecting medals for the younger swimmers.  Nia and Dean also were awarded first place in the 2010 stroke awards for the IM and breaststroke respectively. More Little fishes

“More Little Fishes” - Swimming after school club

Funding has been obtained to allow Forest school children in Years 5, 6 and 7 to swim for a term of 10 one hour sessions on Wednesday afternoons in the after school club “More Little Fishes”.  This exciting opportunity is being brought to you by Cinderford swimming coaches Jayne Wallace and Pam James who are taking the sessions at Heywood pool with the help of club member Lauren Mitchell.
