National Swimming League – December 2009

For the third round of the National swimming league, Cinderford travelled to Womborne in the West Midlands, finishing just 2 points off the 3rd place.  With a slightly depleted team the remaining swimmers put in an excellent effort and were a credit to the Club. Read more........

Welsh Capital Open Meet, Cardiff 50m pool   November 2009

Cardiff’s 50m pool beckoned for a weekend of early starts for the Welsh Capital Open Meet.  Cinderford swimmers excelled, accomplishing 8 medals against strong competition with a large amount of Clubs competing for National qualifying times. Read more........

Cinderford travelled to Bromsgrove for the second round in the Arena national swimming league securing a win against teams from Wyre Forest, Solihull, Oldbury and Camphill Edwardians. Read more........

Masters

South West Masters and Senior Age Group Sprint Challenge – 07/11/2009

12 members of Cinderford Swimming Club’s Masters team travelled to Newport on 7th November 2009.  This was the largest team of Cinderford masters swimmers that have attended a meet with some swimmers experiencing their first competition and remarking on a thoroughly enjoyable day. A significant number of personal best times were achieved from all the swimmers. Read more........

BCLSC

BCLSC Open Meet – 1st November 2009


Cinderford swimmers took to the GL1 pool in Gloucester in force at the weekend with over 50 of their number together with parents and friends descending to take part in the 7th BCLSC 50m sprint open meet.  The older swimmers helped with the younger swimmers throughout the day and amid an exciting atmosphere over 100 medals and personal best times were achieved.  Read more........

Swimsuits

Please note the new wording in relation to swimsuits for all competitions, except Masters.

In swimming competitions, the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces which shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor past the ankle. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit.

It is expected that further changes to the rules in relation to swimsuits for competition may be introduced for implementation from 1st January 2010.  Cinderford swimming club understand that at this time swimsuits extending below the knee, and/or (for males only) above the waist, will no longer be permitted. National “Arena” Swimming League – 10th October 2009


Cinderford’s first competition this season was the National Arena Swimming League gala at Leighton Buzzard.   Even after a 3 hour bus journey the swimmers put in a great performance, there were plenty of personal best times against very stiff opposition with the team finishing with a respectable 173 points in 4th position. 4 Seasons Gala at Tewkesbury 4 July 2009

5 – 9 year olds Luke Mills, Ajay Slade, Andrew Cole, Maddie Worgan and Nya Levy were joined by Sam Jenkins (10) as they all made their debut competing for Cinderford swimming club in the 4 Seasons gala at Tewkesbury on Saturday, showing no nerves they took to the water giving a glimpse of talent to come. Gloucester City Open Meet 20/21 June 2009

The Gloucester Open Meet provided the opportunity for Cinderford swimmers to put on a dazzling display with 28 swimmers competing and achieving 23 gold, 15 silver and 6 bronze medals between them. Calais 2009

Calais 2009

This year’s expedition to Calais left behind a cold, wet Britain on Friday for the journey by bus and ferry to the France port for a weekend of enjoyment and swimming.   In a very friendly atmosphere Cinderford swimmers reaffirmed their acquaintances with swimmers from France, Holland and Dover, with some of the newer swimmers meeting for the first time.  The swimmers behaviour throughout was exemplary and a credit to their families and to the club. Club Gala - 9th May 2009

A 50m sprint swimming gala was held at Heywood with 65 of Cinderford’s swimmers taking part to celebrate the club achieving the ASA Swim 21 Accreditation.
Swim 21 Accreditation is a 'Quality mark', it recognises nationally and regionally the clubs that are committed to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefit of their members.  Clubs have to work steadily towards achieving the attainment of a series of outcomes all of which are seen as essential if the right level of support is to be provided at each stage of an athlete's development.
